Ouch! I ache this morning. Maybe its the last two hills from yesterday, but I definitely have to hold back. Its overcast and a long uphill climb to the first pit stop. After a short stop, we begin the climb on Hwy 101 from Buellton to Goleta. Soon we're along the coast again with clear skies and great weather. After the lunch stop at UCSB, we're off again along a combination of coastal bike paths and local surface streets throught Santa Barbara. Soon I was met with my first mechanical problem, a flat tire. Surprisingly my only flat, it would have been rather routine had my pump not failed me. After borrowing another rider's pump I was on my way. Along the way there's quite a few people cheering us on. A group of children were handing out candy to the riders while just before getting back on the 101 another group with a hot dog cart was giving away hot dogs to the riders. After a long day (91 miles) I finally am in camp at San Buenaventura State Beach. Now that I'm so close to home, its finally sinking in that I am going to finish this.
